All Shea Butters are NOT equal

Shea Butter is a moisturizer with exceptional healing properties for the skin. It is significant for improving blemishes, wrinkles, eczema, dermatitis, insect bites and much more but there are a few things to keep in mind before your purchase:

  • Unrefined shea butter is an off white to ivory color. Yellow shea - a root from the Borututu tree is added in the milling process, and gives it that turmeric yellow color (Borututu tree - A natural and powerful broad spectrum cleansing agent, traditional African medicine favors borututu for the management of problems of the liver and gallbladder)

  • Unrefined shea has a light nutty smell that should fade once applied to the skin. Some alter shea butter to give it a better fragrance and texture

  • Shea butter has a shelf life of roughly 24 months before it loses its potency and healing properties. Once shea butter is aged, it loses its natural integrity. It should always be stored in a cool area

  • Most refined Shea Butter contains Parabens. Parabens are a type of preservatives found in many beauty and health products, and is usually led by the prefixes methyl-, propyl-, butyl-, and ethyl-. These preservatives can cause allergic reactions and contact dermatitis. (The number one cause of contact dermatitis is preservatives)

“Remember, it's more than the product, it's a way of life”
